Well I hope John and Maxine are putting their feet up and having a deserved beverage of choice right now, because as the Web Directions dynamic duo they oversaw a great conference. Thank you! This was my fifth @media so I got to meet the usual suspects plus I got to make the long overdue acquaintance of Maria T and Antonia Hyde. I've promised myself not to name drop because my partner in crime Dr_Monkeyface will probably never finish that logo he's doing for me if I do... Continue reading →

Well, what an excellent few days that was in London for, as it turned out, the last @media conference to be run by Vivabit. I only missed out on 2008 so I would like to thank Patrick and team for the vision and hard work put into the conference series to date and wish Patrick well with his new venture. The good people of Web Directions will be taking over the organising for next year and keeping the brand alive I believe. Continue reading →

...and it was OK. I think this is more a reflection on my third-time veteran status and general knowledge level than anything else though. Whilst I didn't learn a whole bunch of new stuff - it wasn't very technical this year was it? - there was plenty of inspiration from the presentations and after-conference chatting to be had. The food once again was great and I was very surprised how long that bar tab lasted Thursday - a pity about the music volume again and the fact that we couldn't drink outside. Continue reading →

Long time, no post. I was actually expecting to write a "this is my last post" entry as I'm completely disillusioned with my "career" or lack thereof. Instead, seeing as I paid for the event myself, I'm just going to list the presentations I will be going to. Continue reading →

The Future of Web Design (FOWD) is a one day event focusing on trends, best practice and inspiration for contemporary web design, featuring leading design experts. Sign up before the end of January and get in for £59 +VAT. Quite reasonable I thought so I've signed up out of my own pocket (well, OK, the credit card). If you miss the window the price will be £85 (+VAT I assume). Continue reading →
